Gloria Stuart, la actriz de Hollywood de los años 30 que consiguió una nominación al Oscar 60 años después por su papel de la valiente sobreviviente en "Titanic", falleció. Tenía 100 años.
Su nieto, Benjamin Stuart Thompson, dijo que Stuart murió mientras dormía el domingo por la noche en su casa de Los Angeles.
En su juventud, Stuart fue una hermosa rubia que trabajó en películas de bajo presupuesto y algunas más prominentes como "El hombre invisible" y dos de Shirley Temple.
En los últimos años retomó ocasionalmente su carrera y fue seleccionada para interpretar como anciana a la sobreviviente del Titanic a la que como joven dio vida Kate Winslet.
"Titanic", de 1997, se convirtió en el mayor éxito moderno de taquilla hasta ese punto y tanto Winslet como Stuart, entonces de 87 años, fueron nominadas al Oscar.
